Issues

The fight for equality and justice must continue with protections for our LGBTQ+ communities. Republicans across the nation are launching unconscionable discriminatory acts against the LGBTQ+ community, which is why we must do all we can to pass non-discriminatory legislation at the federal level.

Congresswoman McBath is a staunch supporter of expanding protections for the community. She has fought to pass laws to prevent any type of discmrination. She fought to pass the Equality Act, which would proscribe discrimination of LGBTQ individuals in several areas including in the workplace, housing, and credit and financial assistance.

As a two-time breast cancer survivor, Congresswoman McBath understands the importance of affordable and quality healthcare. As a mom who struggled to get pregnant, she opposed the G.O.P. plan to take away healthcare from thousands of Georgians by defunding Planned Parenthood.

Whether it is cancer screening, contraceptives, or family planning services, our communities deserve access to services that keep them and their families healthy.

President Biden has delivered a once-in-a-generation investment in our nation’s aging infrastructure. Congresswoman McBath has been an unwavering supporter of the President because our communities deserve access to safe drinking water, high-speed internet, and a cleaner environment.

Furthermore in America, we have severe problems with our aging roads, bridges, and communications infrastructure. Congresswoman McBath supports funding projects to bring our roads, airports, and transit into the 21st century.

Congresswoman McBath strongly disagrees with the Citizens United decision. Corporate interests have had a corrosive effect on our democracy, and she will support any legislation to increase transparency of our campaign finance system.

The votes of our Members of Congress shape the lives of the folks back home. We cannot afford them to be sold off to the highest bidder.Congresswoman McBath opposes dark money in politics and her votes will always represent the will of her constituents.

Climate change is an existential threat to our environment and to the futures of our children.  Congresswoman McBath believes the science of climate change is conclusive and indisputable: humans are the principal cause of it and our planet is warming at an extremely alarming rate.

In Congress, she has been an unwavering ally of President Biden’s efforts to deliver urgently necessary investments to our nation’s green infrastructure, increase savings for American families shifting to clean energy, and ensure that the benefits of a cleaner environment are delivered equitably to all.

Israel is the homeland and refuge for millions of Jewish people who have fled anti-Semitism worldwide. I recognize the tremendous friendship that our country and the State of Israel have enjoyed over the past seven decades; our intelligence, military, and diplomatic relationships are essential for American interests abroad.

I also support a common sense two state solution. Israelis and Palestinians alike deserve the right to self-determination. But I am also deeply concerned that this administration does not have a comprehensive plan to move the peace process forward. The United States needs to act as an honest peace broker in Israel and the Middle East at-large, and the White House’s actions to move unilaterally on major foreign policy decisions hurts our reputation and efforts to act as an arbiter in this immensely complicated issue.

Congresswoman McBath understands what it is like to have your family ripped away from you. Many Americans live with this same fear for their loved ones. It is time to pursue comprehensive immigration reform for our fellow neighbors and families living in fear and new regulations for humane border management. Congresswoman McBath recognizes that it is critical that we extend our open hands to DREAMers.

Congresswoman McBath came to metro Atlanta in the late 80’s seeking opportunity. She worked as a Delta flight attendant for three decades, and she raised her son Jordan in metro Atlanta. This is the same story for many of Georgia’s families, and it’s the story of President Biden’s job-creating agenda.

The White House’s plan will create millions of jobs nation-wide, provide financial relief to families and working Americans, and revitalize Georgia’s aging infrastructure. Congresswoman McBath believes we must do all we can to deliver President Biden’s agenda for Georgia’s working families.

Education is an issue close to the Congresswoman’s heart. She is proud to have created the Champion in the Making Legacy Foundation for high schoolers wishing to attend traditional and vocational schools. She created this foundation in Jordan’s honor to help students who might otherwise fall through the cracks.

Congresswoman McBath has made lowering student debt a priority because it too often holds students and graduates back. She supports fully funding K-12 education and making public universities, vocational schools, and community colleges more affordable.

Congresswoman Lucy McBath’s son, Jordan Davis, was shot and killed in Jacksonville, Florida in 2012 in a senseless act of gun violence. After losing her son, yet seeing no actions from elected leaders, Lucy decided she would dedicate the rest of her life to fighting for gun safety.

Following this tragedy, Lucy worked for Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America and Everytown for Gun Safety fighting tirelessly to change the laws that failed her family and so many others.

However, after the shooting in Parkland, Florida, Lucy knew that it was time to step up and run for Congress. She has since continued to advocate for common sense gun violence prevention to make our communities safer. Congresswoman McBath is proud to have sponsored gun safety legislation and supported several measures which passed the House.

She refuses to stop fighting until the threat of gun violence no longer permeates our communities.

As a two-time breast cancer survivor who lives with pre-existing conditions, and a daughter of two medical professionals, Congresswoman McBath understands the importance of quality, affordable health care. No family should have to worry about choosing between paying their bills and paying for healthcare. She supports proposals making it easier for more Georgians to get covered and to expand upon the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

Moreover, her tireless efforts in Congress sent the Centers for Disease Control additional pandemic related funding to protect the health of our entire communities.
